yoga instructor

I began my teaching career in an 8th grade math classroom where I loved teaching math while also coaching my favorite sports after school. About 20 years ago, while taking classes at a local fitness studio, Yoga slapped me in the face. Literally. Well, I mean Yoga made me cry every time during savasana. I didn’t understand why I cried, yet my knowledge seeking persisted and I soon began teaching fitness classes after becoming certified in PiYo.

I knew there had to be more to this emotion-releasing, spirit-lifting, life-changing class. In 2013 I trained with and received my 200-hour Yoga teacher training certification from Alex Pfeiffer at The Studio in Madison. In 2018 I finished my 500-hour training. Yoga served as both my anchor and my savior when our son was struggling with repeated physical and mental health crises, as chronicled in my recently published book, Bend Don’t Break: My Son’s Survival.

Participants in my class can anticipate a genuine connection from the heart, grounding poses, and modifications based on your needs. I am a trust-worthy, experienced teacher who has been blessed with a vast array of life, teaching, meditation, and business-owning experiences. I love to spend time with my family hiking, biking and playing cards when I’m not teaching Yoga, Tabata, or Water Exercise. My husband and I moved to Scottsdale, AZ where we reside the majority of the year. I am grateful to have the opportunity to teach in person at Wishing Tree for the summer months and online the rest of the year.
